kind - a poem

a part of April 2020’s Monthly prompt: Heartbreaks, Heartbeats, and Heartaches

Kind are the eyes that look at me
Sweet are the lips that kiss
Blue is the sky that I can see
Hands curled into a fist

But gray skies come, and come quickly.
Cold is the rain that falls
I hope beyond hope that you miss me
And that soon I can give you a call

I hope that the clouds will pass
So with certain heart I await.
Time moves, like my heart, so fast
Until the white rabbit is late.

I see the dawn!
There, on the horizon. It makes its way
Like a ship returning to harbor
Coming to claim it’s day –
Soon I will see you again.
