Ahmaud Arbery: what you can do

img_3010.jpg

Ahmaud Arbery was chased and killed in late February of 2020 while on a jog. Since then, the two men who shot him, a former cop and his son, have faced no consequences. This unfortunately has become a disgusting cycle for Black people in America. In spreading awareness and guaranteeing justice to those who are killed, we may be able to diminish the number of horrid attacks targeted against Black people. We must see Georgy and Travis McMichael incarcerated and held accountable for their actions.

Civil rights activist and writer, Shaun King has directed an initiative. If you would like to contribute to gaining justice for Ahmaud Arbery sign the petition and make a call. This Friday is Ahmaud’s birthday. The weekend will pass difficultly for his family, though they ask that you honour him in doing what was his favorite thing to do: run. Continue to share the stories of Ahmaud Arbery and Trayvon Martin. Of Emmett Till and of Sandra Bland. The stories of Philando Castile and even more recently, of Sean Reed. Continue to demand for the justice and the freedom of Black people in America.

He was not a threat; he was no harm. His name was Ahmaud Arbery and he loved to run, he was 25 but would have turned 26 on Friday. And he died in the hands of two free men. Ahmaud Arbery was lynched.
