EDITOR'S LETTER
Hi!
Since I’ve never formally introduced myself, my name is Isabella Bossé and I am the founder and Editor-in-Chief of Know-It-All Mag. Welcome to our new website!
During these passing weeks, I’ve seen the last of seventeen, stressed lots about my future, and worked hours at my job. During all of this, I wondered, What comes next? I’m now graduated from high school, unsure of if I want to take a gap year because of online classes, there has been a spike in Covid-19 cases where I live recently, and I have this magazine that I have spent the last 2 years working on that has continuously been a passion of mine.
So, what comes next?
I’ve had many new projects in mind. Some include live streams highlighting the voices of black and indigenous people, a mini-zine I worked on during quarantine, and hopefully some small local meetups if it is safe to do so. That and some new posts that will go on the site. (Feel free to reach out if you have any ideas you think would fit at Know-It-All, email us submitknowitallmag@gmail.com or dm us on Instagram @knowitallmag.)
Part of this journey has been questioning whether I’m doing the right thing or not, or if what I do is good enough in comparison to what other people are doing. I have been afraid to publish or share my work, which has set me back. I have been afraid to talk about Know-It-All “too much” which shouldn’t even be a problem. As creatives, I find we all tend to be caught up in the potential negative feedback something could have, instead of the positive. This is a natural part of the process and while we can try and move past it, we need to acknowledge these feelings in order to do so. This is what I’m learning.
Know-It-All is something that I have viewed as so authentic since the beginning. We’ve had so many people submit pieces that you can tell come straight from the heart. It makes me feel the most grateful that people can and want to share their work with our magazine. This is where your work can find a place.
Thank you, a million times, to everyone who has been a part of this or has supported us. Your contribution has meant the absolute world to me and to the rest of the team. I remember Know-It-All being nothing but a little idea I had when I was 13. Notes about written in my spiraled journal. I am so proud of what it has become.
Here are some songs I’ve been liking lately:
- Give love a try – Twilight
- Clouded – Brent Faiyaz
- Part of me – Noname
- Sweet thing – Mary J Blige
- hot tub DREAM machine – tobi lou
- Running red lights – The Avalanches
Hope you are doing well and all the best to you,
Bella <33
